Jim Ivler
Jim Ivler, from Davis, California is another accomplished and versatile musician who retired from his "day job” several years ago and now devotes as much time as he can to music. He
studied classical guitar in college, took a musical hiatus during family-raising years, but then rediscovered guitar-playing through the music of El McMeen and John Renbourn.
Jim brings a classical sensibility and knowledge to the folk guitar idiom, and has done many arrangements for steel-string guitar. He transcribed El McMeen's book for Mel Bay called "Acoustic Guitar Treasures," and transcribed a number of pieces from the "Giving Voice" CD of Tim Alexander and Sandy Shalk.

Jim’s live music-making in recent years has focused on playing the bass guitar (his original instrument) and he is pleased to be a member of several “Americana” and folk music ensembles in the
Northern California area.
