Judith began playing the dulcimer after her retirement as a college professor of special education.  A Parkinson’s patient herself, she enjoys playing soft dulcimer music for hospice patients in their homes and in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. She feels that the gift of music has increased her well-being and contributed to her own healing and that of others. She also performs at community events, often with a harpist friend.

She has published an article on playing for hospice and other patients in the Fall 2011 issue of the Dulcimer Players News. A manuscript can be accessed through the link entitled "Giddings_Musical Giving" below on this page.

Judith enjoys arranging for dulcimer -- adapting to the dulcimer's many attributes music that is usually sung, or played on other instruments.

Judith's playing is very evocative, with gentle, singing phrasing reminiscent of the playing of Nina Zanetti. You can visit Judith's You Tube channel for the latest in Judith's renditions:

Very recently Judith has arranged and performed a ground-breaking arrangement of a Carolan tune called "Sir Festus Burke":

Judith has prepared a new composition

((c) Judith Giddings) called "Passages."  Her performance is on video at the bottom of this page.

Also below on this page is a dulcimer transcription ((c) Judith Giddings) of the great tune for Celtic harp, called "Give Me Your Hand".
