Home Recordings by El
Spontaneous and Unedited
I have a number of studio recordings, and some edited live recordings, but sometimes I am moved just to sit down and play. I record at home into a Superscope direct-to-CD recorder, with a Presonus preamp and one humble but very decent Earthworks mic.
Since people have expressed an interest in this type of recording situation, I will share below, from time to time, some of those tracks.
First is a little medley I recently did of Simple Gifts and With a Little Help from My Friends, on my Tippin Bravado Contour, El McMeen Series guitar. Friends are indeed gifts, aren't they!
Second is the beautiful Scott Skinner tune in honor of Hector Macdonald, called Hector the Hero, played on a Franklin Brazilian Jumbo guitar.
Third is something quite different. It is a Midi version of a Celtic tune that I arranged for classical string trio (violin, viola and cello - three instruments I don't play!). I hope you like it. I wrote a book of arrangements of Celtic tunes--including this one-- for classic string trio.
Finally, I include The Rose of Allendale recorded on a Martin OM-1GT, with high-stringing.Thanks to friends Mark LaChac and Peter Janson for introducing me to this fabulous melody.
